Competitive League: 4v4
Crafted for skilled players, our Competitive League embraces a 4v4 format with controlled passes, sets, & spikes. Teams, limited to six players, can only make substitutions from other league teams. No tipping is allowed as well as setting bumps. 

Recreational League: 6v6
Welcoming all skill levels, the Recreational League offers a laid-back atmosphere with occasional bump-set-spike plays. Rosters, accommodating up to eight players, allow substitutions from rostered players. One girl must play the ball at each play, if not side-out point to the other team. 

Age Requirement:
For participants under 18, a minimum age of 16 is required, with eligibility contingent on a parent-signed permission slip. Only up to 1 underage players on each team max. 

League Highlights:

- When: Thursdays, 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM
- Dates: October 30th - December 11th
- Team Cost: $200 (4v4) | $250 (6v6)

-Registration Deadline: October 16th or until full 

- Key Rule: At least one girl must be on the floor at all times.

Kids Run Club - Summer II 2025

Join us for a brand-new group running program for kids!

Girls and boys from 3rd to 5th grade are invited to participate in this 6-week training program that will be sure to keep these young athletes moving.

Meeting two nights a week, with an optional third night, runners will build the endurance and strength to run the Fire-in-the-Hole 5K at the conclusion of the program. Enrollment in this program will include registration for the Fire-in-the-Hole 5K.

Whether your athlete is running their first race or trying to achieve a personal best we welcome them to join us for some miles up at VIX.

ArtillumA Dance Co - New Castle classes for ages 5-10 - Fall 2025

Join us WEDNESDAYS  - two options:

EARLY CLASS 4:15PM to 5:15PM  5-7 year-olds

or LATE CLASS  5:15pm-6:15pm  8-10 year-olds

at the New Castle Community Center with Miss Julia Speedy.

In this class your dancer will learn Ballet, Tap & Jazz styles of dance.  Our 30 week session begins on September 10th and goes thru May 6th.  Your dancer will be in our Spring Showcase in May where they will perform a choreographed dance in a beautiful costume.  If you would like to participate in the dance program, register at  newcastlerec.com   and pay your first month’s tuition ($55) to New Castle Rec, then on October 8th your amount due to ArtillumA will be $107.50 which includes 2 weeks of tuition, the registration fee and the costume fee (yes, they get to keep it!).  Thereafter remaining tuition is invoiced/charged out monthly by ArtillumA directly, $55 a month, for the next 6 months (November thru April - you will be invoiced & we encourage you to pay via ACH to avoid credit card fees) for a total of 30 weeks.    Call Lynn @ 970-618-0663    THANK YOU!  See you in class!

2025 Youth Flag Football League (3rd-6th) - Fall 2025

This 5 v 5 format is non-contact & focuses on skill development, teamwork. Practice times will be determined based on coach availability. We will be playing games with other area recreation departments where available.

2025 Fall Micro Soccer - Fall 2025

Micro Soccer

Please enroll your child in the grade they will be entering for the 2025–2026 school year.

Pre-K through 2nd grade (at least 4 years old)

Micro Soccer is a recreational program designed for children in Pre-K through 2nd grade. This program emphasizes having fun while teaching essential soccer skills like dribbling, passing, and scoring.

Dates & Location 

The program runs from August 20th to October 3rd, 2025 at  Alder Park,  (Pre-K & Kindergarten) - and (1st & 2nd) is a VIX PARK

Cost
Registration is $60 per child.

Jerseys

We’re replacing all past jerseys with Dri-FIT shirts featuring a logo. Each team will have a different color. 

Schedule

For Pre-K and Kindergarten participants, sessions are held twice a week with one practice and a scrimmage game each week.

For 1st and 2nd graders, the program meets three times a week with two practices and a game on Friday evenings.

Clay Club - Saturday mornings - Adults & Kids - Summer 2025

Basic pottery lessons instructed by local artist Kat Nichols of Clay-With-Kat

Each participant will work on their own unique hand-built pottery project / a pottery wheel is not used in this program

Pottery Paint Night - Adults and Kids - Summer 2025

Pottery Paint Nights

Local pottery artist, Kat Nichols, will guide us through painting her bisque-ware (already fired) pottery pieces. She will then take them back to her studio to be glaze fired. They will be returned to the New Castle Community Center and ready for pick-up the following week. These could make great gifts. All ages will enjoy this activity and the end results.

Each registered participant will choose one piece to paint, including bowls, mugs, cups, etc.

2025 Fall Coed 3rd/4th Grade Soccer - Fall 2025

New Castle Recreation is excited to present 3rd & 4th Grade Recreational Soccer! This coed program is aiming to build soccer knowledge and skills while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship and equal playing time for all. Soccer will kick off August 18th and end October 3rd, practices will be twice a week depending on coach availability and will take place at VIX. Games will be played against other recreation departments in Rifle on Fridays.

Your player will need shin guards and rubber molded soccer cleats.

Girls Youth Volleyball League - Fall 2025

Introduction to Volleyball  (Grades 3rd & 4th)

Introduction to Volleyball program is perfect for girls wanting to try this exciting sport. The program will focus on teaching the basic skills of the sport; passing, serving, setting and hitting. There will only be practices as we are trying to build fundaments for the next level to play games.

Youth Volleyball League (Grades 5th & 6th)

This league will prepare young players to advance their skills with 1-2 practices a week, and league matches against other teams in our area. The focus will be on continued skill development and FUN! The games will take place with Glenwood, Grand Valley, Rifle, DeBeque, and Collbran. 

Cost: $70.00  Dates:  August 18th- September 27, 2025   

End of the season tournament will be hosted at Coal Ridge High School: September 27th. Games will start at 8am and could run until 4pm

YOUTH VENDOR at the New Castle Community Market - Summer 2025

Attention young entrepreneurs!  (New Castle residents)

YOUTH VENDORS for our New Castle Community Market

Note: This is not the same as the Kids' Market on June 19th

We are offering a vendor space each Thursday to anyone age 6 to 17. The vendor fee is $10 for a single market. Each youth vendor must provide their own table. Pop-up tent is optional - natural tree shade is provided. Items for sale must be handmade by the child with their siblings or friends. No Food or Beverage sales allowed with this offering. Each child will be responsible for their own cash and transactions with the help of parents if needed.

Youth vendors must register online at newcastlerec.com to reserve their market date. Each child vendor must provide a product description to Kelley at the New Castle Rec. Dept. - kcox@newcastlecolorado.org - at least 2 weeks prior to the reserved market date.

Lego League - Competition Series - Summer 2025

Calling all builders!  Four Dates through August!

Our Lego League Competition Series is your chance to show off your building skills, Lego knowledge and creativity!

We supply all building materials to be used in the competition.

Individual builders will be judged in two categories based on age, 5-8 years and 9-12 years.

Individual contestants will have one hour to build a masterpiece to present to the judges.

The judges will award a 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place in each age group. Register your Lego Lover today!
